The only hotel connected to Grand Central Terminal
On Wednesday December 12, 2018, Grand Hyatt New York celebrated Hyatt’s first annual Global Day of Gratitude. Our purpose is to care for people so they can be their best- and that starts with our own wellbeing. One way we can improve our own wellbeing is by actively practicing gratitude. Guests and colleagues were given a “gratitude gram”, similar to a postcard, to send to anyone in the world for whom they are most grateful. We stamped and mailed the cards on behalf of our guests. Here at Grand Hyatt New York, we are most grateful for our guests for their continued loyalty and friendship.
With the holiday season just around the corner, Grand Hyatt New York has lots of exciting happenings in store. We are excited to announce that our 14th floor boardrooms have recently completed a decor and furnishings refresh.
The design was created by New York City-based interior design and architecture firm Nemaworkshop, and reflects the energy of the adjacent Grand Central Terminal and the New York City skyline. The color themes of silver and metallic along with brown and blue reflect the “turn of the century style of Grand Central Terminal”.
This exciting new look is made to welcome visitors into a warm “living room environment”, thus giving the space a more “hospitable feel that complements the existing spaces of the hotel”.
The largest boardroom is 816 SQ. ft. and seats 30 people. General Manager and Area Vice President, John Schafer comments that “the makeover of our 14th floor boardrooms and meeting space were important in creating a more cohesive design and guest experience throughout the hotel.”
We invite you to stop by and tour the updated spaces which we are now showing; we would love to give you a personal tour and speak with you about your next exciting meeting or event.

Our hotel is currently home to New York City’s only New York Botanical Garden pop-up located in our lobby! Here, guests can experience a preview of NYBG’s current exhibit, Georgia O’Keefe: Visions of Hawaii, learn about her journey to the islands which started right here at Grand Central, and receive Hawaiian-themed drink offers from our award-winning restaurant, New York Central. The pop-up is staged to replicate the look and feel of Hawaii and to serve somewhat as an interactive gallery and educational theater, all-in-one. More info on this immersive cultural experience can be found here:
This is the perfect summer/fall getaway package that combines a fun night in the city with a day at the Garden. In November this space will transform into New York City’s only Macy’s Herald Square holiday pop-up shop. Stay Tuned!
Our hotel is now holding a customized picnic lunch in our Market. (market to-go is our in-room delivery service) We are also offering pre-made baskets for those who would rather grab-and-go. You can enjoy this experience by purchasing this picnic lunch for only $50. This offering highlights our close proximity to some of Manhattans most iconic parks; Bryant Park and Central Park. To even further complete the experience, guests can also purchase a branded picnic blank to enhance their excursion.
A perfect summer day in New York City wouldn't be complete without a picnic in the park! And seeing how particularly close the hotel is to Bryant Park and all the fun free summer and fall activities they offer, it truly is a match made in New York City heaven.
We have recently updated our building’s management to conserve energy and carry out a strong part in our corporate social responsibility. On September 19th 2018, our hotel will be recognized with the “Trane” award for the outstanding commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability. What a proud moment for us!
The backbone of this achievement traces back to Hyatt Corporation with its 2020 vision that encompasses “using-less and wasting less- of our earth’s precious resources”. Implementing this new system will also be helping Hyatt Corporation as a whole achieve the company goal of reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission by 25% per square meter worldwide by 2020. Our hotel has invested $160 thousand on kitchen exhaust controls. This efficient system reduces exhaust fans and makes up air fan speeds during idle & non-cooking conditions. Approximately $2.3 million was spent on updating the building management system, which included demand based ventilation, chiller plant optimization, continuous commissioning, flow meters, and BTU meters. We have invested $150 thousand in LED lighting upgrades, which included over 16,000 LED bulbs across the hotel property. In addition to going green as a corporation, we have contributed to saving the environment by replacing physical newspapers such as the New York Times and the Financial Times with complimentary digital access.
It’s fascinating to see how an almost 100 year old building can be transitioned into the modern world of energy saving and precious resource reduction.
