go grand at grand hyatt new york
The only hotel connected to Grand Central Terminal
We have recently updated our building’s management to conserve energy and carry out a strong part in our corporate social responsibility. On September 19th 2018, our hotel will be recognized with the “Trane” award for the outstanding commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability. What a proud moment for us!
The backbone of this achievement traces back to Hyatt Corporation with its 2020 vision that encompasses “using-less and wasting less- of our earth’s precious resources”. Implementing this new system will also be helping Hyatt Corporation as a whole achieve the company goal of reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission by 25% per square meter worldwide by 2020. Our hotel has invested $160 thousand on kitchen exhaust controls. This efficient system reduces exhaust fans and makes up air fan speeds during idle & non-cooking conditions. Approximately $2.3 million was spent on updating the building management system, which included demand based ventilation, chiller plant optimization, continuous commissioning, flow meters, and BTU meters. We have invested $150 thousand in LED lighting upgrades, which included over 16,000 LED bulbs across the hotel property. In addition to going green as a corporation, we have contributed to saving the environment by replacing physical newspapers such as the New York Times and the Financial Times with complimentary digital access.
It’s fascinating to see how an almost 100 year old building can be transitioned into the modern world of energy saving and precious resource reduction.
